SWOT ANALYSIS

SWOT-ANALYSIS.jpg

What is my dream job?

My dream job would be creating content for websites as a producer coordinating other creative professionals within media organisations such as advertising.  I'm excited about the possibilities that digital convergence and trans-media practices offer media organisations such as broadcast radio. The growing popularity of audio podcasts, live social media streaming and website articles for example provide extra depth and analysis for stories and events. The integration between what is broadcast and accompanying video and articles on the companion website holds great potential for an immersive and interactive media experience and I would like to be a part of that process.

What strengths do you already have in that area?

I'm a creative person that has an ongoing love of playing and creating music both by myself and I’m passionate about being developing creative projects with others. I’ve completed an associate degree in audio engineering at SAE in Brisbane and During that study period, I became really fascinated by the process of developing creative projects with others. I've received recognition of prior learning from QUT Creative Industries towards the media and communications degree I'm currently studying.

Before commencing the course at SAE, I produced music content by myself at home. Before enrolling in SAE, I using entry level software and explored using basic midi programming to create music which involved my input in every aspect of performance and production.

What you a little weak in and what do you need to work on, in order to get that dream career happening?

I’m a little pedantic about my creative projects and I currently spend too much time deliberating, analysing and researching. I'm quite familiar with 'analysis paralysis' however my projects and assignments consistently display depth of research and understanding.

What opportunities are there for you to be well prepared when you graduate for your dream career?

The opportunities may be in areas where life and workplace experience is highly valued. I have extensive working experience across a number of industries. I've also contributed content to QUT Creative Industries' No Walls website. I acted as journalist, video camera operator, editor, soundtrack producer and wrote the blog article. The article can be accessed at the following address:

I would like to become more adept at networking and professional communication however I'm currently taking steps to seek out mentors within the media and communications industry and talking lecturers and industry professionals. I'm currently researching and learning about photography, video camera operation and video editing.

What is the biggest threat for you in getting your dream career?

There could potentially be a lack of opportunities for people within my age bracket when I graduate as there will  be lots of competition for graduate roles, with students who are far younger than myself. I'm new to the media and communications industry so, I recognise the need to gain industry experience through internships, volunteer work and creative collaborations to build upon my existing workplace experience.
